Azerbaijan–Kazakhstan Intergovernmental Commission holds meeting in Baku

Last year, mutual trade between Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan increased by 50 percent, reaching $470 million. In the first half of this year, trade turnover continued to grow, amounting to $501 million, which is 4.2 times higher than in the same period of the previous year.

According to AZERTAC, this was stated by Minister of Energy Parviz Shahbazov during his speech at the 21st meeting of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation between Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan.

In the first half of this year, trade turnover between Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan reached $501 million, which is 4.2 times more compared to the corresponding period last year.

At the same time, Kazakhstan’s economy showed a slight decline compared to the previous month’s results. Over the first five months, the country’s gross domestic product (GDP) grew by 6.3 percent, First Vice Minister of National Economy Azhat Amrin reported at a government meeting.

He noted a minor slowdown compared to the January–August period; however, overall growth rates remain stable. Growth in the real sector reached 8.1 percent, while the services sector expanded by 5.3 percent. The most significant progress was observed in transport services, construction, and the mining industry. Investment in fixed capital increased by 13.5 percent, reaching 13.8 trillion tenge, while foreign trade turnover totaled $90.1 billion.

During the first nine months of 2025, Kazakhstan produced 75.7 million tons of oil and gas condensate — 113.2 percent of the level recorded in the same period last year. The annual plan for 2025 is 96.2 million tons, said Minister of Energy Yerlan Akkenzhenov at a government meeting, reports a correspondent from Kapital.kz Business Information Center.

“Oil exports for the nine-month period totaled 60.5 million tons, or 114.9 percent of the same period in 2024. The plan for 2025 is 70.5 million tons. Speaking of the gas sector, for the reporting period, 51.6 billion cubic meters of gas were produced, or 116.7% compared to the same period last year. The 2025 target is 62.8 billion cubic meters,” he noted.

From January to September 2025, domestic consumption of marketable gas amounted to 14.3 billion cubic meters, equivalent to 100.4 percent of the corresponding period in 2024.
