According to DESFA, total natural gas demand in Greece, including exports, rose by 16.66% in the first nine months of 2025, reaching 56.36 TWh compared to 48.31 TWh in the same period of 2024.
The role of LNG has grown significantly, accounting for over 40% of total natural gas imports, up from about 26% in the first nine months of 2024. The Agia Triada (Revithoussa) terminal remained the main entry point, followed by Amfitriti (Alexandroupolis FSRU).
The United States was the leading LNG supplier, delivering 19.62 TWh (or 88% of total LNG imports), compared to 8.02 TWh last year. They were followed by Nigeria with 1.37 TWh, Norway with 0.93 TWh, and Algeria with 0.49 TWh.
As for pipeline imports, Sidirokastro, which accounts for 45% of the country’s total imports, received 25.46 TWh, a 3.3% decrease from last year’s 26.32 TWh. Meanwhile, imports through Nea Mesimvria (connection with TAP) amounted to 8.2 TWh, down from 9.61 TWh in 2024 — a 14.67% decline.
